This indicates that 5G-enabled TCUs might be coming to cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So we might see a new wave of&nbsp; 5G Standard Essential Patent (SEP) licensing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Companies that own 5G SEPs will be approaching automotive manufacturers like Toyota, Ford, GM, Audi, BMW, and Hyundai for patent licensing, many of which are already licensed to Avanci\u2019s 5G patent pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However our <a href=\"https:\/\/greyb.com\/5g-standard-essential-patents\/\">recent 5G SEP Report<\/a> revealed that on average <strong>only 37%<\/strong> of patents owned by a company are identified as core SEPs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To help companies negotiate fair licensing fees and pay only for True SEPs, we have created a <strong>5G SEP Dashboard<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many licensees and patent owners have successfully used this dashboard when reviewing their licensing agreements. They found it particularly useful in the following cases:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>For licensing deals<\/strong>:\u00a0 Understanding the number of true SEPs helped them gain a stronger position at the negotiation table.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For checking portfolio strength<\/strong>: It helped them showcase their contributions to the standard compared to other patent owners.
