What\u2019s&nbsp;<em>hard<\/em>&nbsp;is figuring out which ones are genuinely essential and who owns how many of these gems.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s precisely what our new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/greyb.com\/resources\/5g-sep-report-2025\/?utm_campaign=4641932-Telecom%20and%20Standards&amp;utm_source=hs_email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-8yaaGU26GKhe7ULkWFNHFDZzNRnMTV5baYLNFHKePVGHaBaDx0wR3Zv4MUzsAs1zXNJz0E\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2025 5G SEP Essentiality Study<\/a>&nbsp;does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s how we tackled it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We mapped the whole universe of<strong>&nbsp;53,493 declared 5G patent families<\/strong>&nbsp;as of December 31, 2024 (based on ETSI\u2019s latest release).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, we pulled a meaningful stratified sample of patent families, representing every major contributor.
