Dendrimers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4074873\/#:~:text=lot%20of%20applications.-,Dendrimers%20are%20highly%20defined%20artificial%20macromolecules%2C%20which%20are%20characterized%20by,the%20first%20dendrimers%20were%20prepared.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dendrimers<\/a> are nano-scaled artificial macromolecules with water-repellent, anti-microbial, and self-cleaning properties. In another development, Snickers Workwear and OrganoClick publicized their international <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technicaltextile.net\/news\/sweden-s-organoclick-snickers-make-waterproof-textiles-for-workwear-283983.html\">partnership<\/a> in late 2022 to launch a wash-in-textile <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snickersworkwear.com\/products\/accessories\/other-accessories\/213527\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">water-proofing technology<\/a> for workwear.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly, <strong>Rudolf Group<\/strong> launched <a href=\"https:\/\/textilevaluechain.in\/news-insights\/bionic-finisheco-of-rudolf-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bionic-Finish Eco fluorine-free water repellent<\/a> in 2021. It is a PFA-free formulation based on patented dendrimer technology. It provides durability and water repellency even at low-concentration applications and can be used on sportswear and casual clothing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Silanes&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many silanes are used to treat fabrics for water resistance. Sometimes, a combination of silanes forms a long chain on the textile, which may impart a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hilarispublisher.com\/open-access\/modification-of-cotton-fibre-with-functionalized-silane-coupling-agentsvinyltriethoxysilane-and-aminopropyltriethoxysilane-2165-8064-1000361.pdf\">water-repellent effect<\/a>. Furthermore, they can improve the surface roughness of cotton fibers and enhance the fabric\u2019s hydrophobicity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HeiQ<\/strong>, a company founded in 2005, develops coatings that impart properties like water, odor, and oil repellency while being fluorocarbon free. Its Eco Dry textile technology provides eco-friendly water repellency, and recently it launched an upgraded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heiq.com\/news\/heiq-launches-upgrade-to-the-heiq-eco-dry-range-at-titas-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bio version<\/a> as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Modified Hydrophobic Polyester<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These types of polyesters are treated with certain chemical compounds to enhance the water-repellant properties of polyester while keeping the other properties intact.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is not a lot of innovation on this technology, but a company named <strong>Shaw Floors<\/strong> has launched an <a href=\"https:\/\/shawfloors.com\/why-shaw\/about-us\/shaw-advantages\/carpet-advantages\/r2x-stain-resistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">R2X stain-resistant technology<\/a> to protect rugs and carpets from stains and soil. R2X is chemically bonded with the carpet&#8217;s fibers and prevents the liquids spilled on the carpet from penetrating deep into it. Thus, it can be presumed that it does the PFAs job without possessing its harmful properties.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Fatty Acid Derivatives and Wax<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fatty acids are a chain of carbon and hydrogen and carboxylic acid group with varying degrees of saturation. Naturally occurring fatty acids like beehive waxes and mink oil can replace PFAS in the textile industry for waterproofing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Companies are looking at it as a promising alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Atsko Inc. <\/strong>launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atsko.com\/sno-seal-wax-4-oz-tube\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sno Seal Wax<\/a>, a type of beeswax that promises to be waterproof to protect the leather from rain, sun, snow, and salt.
